Á Föstum Fótum ehf. er nýstofnað fyrirtæki sem flytur inn hálkuverjandi efni fyrir blauta og hála fleti og sérhæfir sig í ásetningu þess. Árlega slasast fjöldi einstaklinga vegna vatnshálku, jafnt ungir sem aldraðir. Er það von og stefna eigenda fyrirtækisins að eiga þátt í að stórfækka þeim með notkun þessara efna. Um er að ræða efni sem gengur í efnasamband við yfirborðið og skilur engin sjáanleg merki eftir sig. Það virkar þannig að við það að blotna verður yfirborðið jafn stamt eða stamar en þegar það er þurrt. Jafnframt hreinsar og gerildeyðir efnið meðhöndlaðan flöt. Sure Step is a newly established company that imports slip resistant material for wet and slippery areas and is useful in such situations. Yearly, many individuals are injured due to slipping on wet surfaces, both young and old.
It is hoped and the company owners wish to minimize those accidents by use of this material. What is being discussed is material that bonds with the other surface but leaves no marks. It works thus that if it dampens it becomes less slippery than when it was dry. Also it cleans and polishes sites to which it is applied. Previously one would use a mat with suction cups to hold to the floor. But the problem with these is that they can slip or become a growth area for fungus or bacteria. The material called Sure Step is particularily designed for tiled areas, bathtubs and/or shower floors. The material lasts for one year in heavy traffic areas or up to five years in homes. The couple Eyolfur M. Eyolfsson, manager and Hugrun Sigurthardottir that own and operate the company.
